A grandmother in Florida called police when she discovered that her infant grandchild had bites all over her tiny body.
Police and medics arrived after the 911 call was placed and took the infant to the hospital where it was determined the bites on her cheek, back and legs were caused by a human. The mother of the infant girl, Shreka Key, 25, was called by police while the infant was in the ER to determine how and why the bites happened. She told them that the father of the baby, Moses Jackson, 22, watches the baby during the day while she attends school and that she wasn’t aware of the bites, however, Jackson told police that Key was aware because he had just texted her pictures of the infant’s injuries after his mom had called police. Key reportedly told the baby’s father to ‘treat the marks with a wet cloth’. Both mother and father were apprehended. Jackson eventually confessed to the police that he had bit his infant daughter several times but didn’t think he bit her hard. Juanita Kinzie, a 24-year-old Sterling, Colo. mother, has been charged with first-degree murder of her 3-year-old son Caleb Pacheco, according to The Denver Post. The toddler's decomposed skeletal remains were discovered beneath a mobile home in Sterling on Sunday. When Denver police contacted Kinzie on Sunday they said she was under the influence of meth and she told paramedics that her son was dead, CBS4 reports. Kinzie was no longer living in the trailer home where the boy's remains were found and she had only lived there for approximately six months. Caleb had last been seen alive in January of 2011, according to a 7News report. The family set up a Facebook page called "Where's Caleb" to get help from the community to find the toddler and one of the early posts describes what had been happening -- the post is written in "Caleb's voice" as are all of the Facebook posts: There were also several updates from Monday on the "Where's Caleb" Facebook page, including some from Cogee Fields, Kinzie's sister and Caleb's uncle, when authorities believed they had found Caleb's body and when they announced the arrest of Kinzie.
Government officials at three levels want more answers on a controversial $200,000 severance payment to Wayne County's former chief development officer, Turkia Awada Mullin. Mullin received the payout in August when she left the county to become CEO of Metro Airport. She later agreed to return it after a public outcry. As an internal review by the administration of County Executive Robert Ficano continues, county commissioners have scheduled a Thursday hearing to get more answers. At noon today in Lansing, the House Oversight, Reform and Ethics committee will hold a hearing on a resolution from state Rep. John Olumba, D-Detroit, asking Attorney General Bill Schuette to investigate "the severance payment scandal to determine if any misconduct or malfeasance occurred." Olumba already has sent a letter to Schuette asking for the investigation, but wants the full House to join in the request. Wayne County Commissioner Bernard Parker, who serves on the board that runs Metro Airport, also has asked that board to question Mullin publicly about the scandal.
