Kym Worthy to judge: Make Kwame Kilpatrick turn over financial information in next 10 days
By Jonathan Oosting

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is sick of waiting for ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to disclose his assets.
She says he's been avoiding the disclosure for nearly a year, and today she filed a motion asking a judge to force Kilpatrick's hand in anticipation of a Oct. 28 hearing to determine his ability to make payments on the $1 million he owes the city from his plea-bargain.
Kilpatrick went to jail for obstruction of justice after text messages showed he lied on the witness stand about an extramarital affair with ex-top aide Christine Beatty.
He's supposed to pay $6,000 a month, but he's "unilaterally" cut his payments to $3,000, and his attorney says he can't afford that.
Maybe it's those matching Escalades or his million-dollar mansion in Texas, but Worthy isn't convinced.
DetNews, Sept. 29: Today's motion demands documents including tax returns, bank accounts, gross income of the defendant and his immediate family, a list of all assets held by Kilpatrick, his wife and third parties, and a listing of all gifts or benefits exceeding $100 in value received since being placed on probation.
Judge David Groner on Friday authorized subpoenas ordering Kilpatrick and Compuware, his employer, to turn over other financial records, including payroll information.
